Dental Assistant Recognition Week. T-Minus...let's celebrate!
Our Pax Team has many members, from the dentist to the hygienist to the business team, and even to the officers of the practice. This week, we honor another integral member of the team, the dental assistant. The American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) takes the first week in March every year to honor these hard-working dental practice team members. So what better way to introduce you to our incredible team than a Pax dental assistant. Below you will find an article written by Tracy Gatton, CDA of our Pax California and Sleep + Health team.
Take it away Tracy…
"Welcome to Pax Dental. I am your Dental Assistant!"
The first full week of March is DARW or Dental Assistant Recognition Week. A day in the life of a dental assistant consist of many avenues of care and work. Let me share a few of those answers to questions we get asked.
What does a dental assistant do?
The dental assistant is a person with many jobs that unify the dental office to help it run smoothly. Their roles are important to the quality of patient care and the efficacy of the dental team. They do their work often behind the scenes before the patient arrives, during their visit, after the patient leaves.
Their job duties include as their title says assisting. That means that they assist the dentist, hygienist, the front desk/admin folks, the patient, and each other. Dental assistants often wear many hats and can work in many areas of a dental office.
We prepare in advance for your care looking for ways to help make your visit with us comfortable, safe and efficient. We make sure the supplies are there, the instruments are clean and sterilized keeping you safe and healthy. We are traffic coordinators, pit crews, data entry clerks, and dishwashers, launderers, and other duties as assigned. We are comforters, encouragers, artists /creators, teachers and yes spit suckers. :)
We do it because we love it!
We care about what we do taking pride in the care we provide. We take continuing education to keep up certifications and licenses needed to provide quality care. Keeping up with new technology, materials and techniques. Keeping up with the latest information learning how we can better provide quality care for you.
Most dental assistants I know have servant hearts. We do our jobs because we like helping people. We want you to have a healthy and beautiful smile. Let us help you with that.
Welcome to Pax Dental, we are happy to see you!

Dental assistants are versatile and valuable members of our dental team. We appreciate them for so many reasons. So, while we make it a point to celebrate their contributions this one week every year, every day in the dental practice is a day we appreciate our Pax dental assistants.
